Our story
Stoic Martial Arts was founded by Mason McClellan — known on the mat as Mason Ryan — an Alliance Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt awarded in 2017 and a lifelong martial artist with over 30 years of experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Submission Grappling, MMA and Muay Thai. Our motto is progress, not perfection, and our house rule is train without ego.
Lineage
Mason's training lineage runs through Greg Nelson's Academy, where his formative training came with Greg Nelson, Tom Schmitz of Spartan, and Damian Hirtz of Alliance. Over the years he's trained with the likes of Sean Sherk, Dave Menne, Brad Kohler, Erik Paulson, and multiple BJJ world champions.
